Why I Write Poetry That Tells the Truth

Some feelings are hard to explain in an ordinary conversation. You can know exactly what you’re carrying and still struggle to find the words for it.

Poetry gives me a place to try.

When I wrote The Weight on My Chest, I wanted to put difficult experiences on the page honestly. Mental health, grief, fear, and the way a person can look fine while fighting a battle inside are all things I wanted to give words to.

That is part of why The Weight Collection means so much to me. These books give me space to write about pain, healing, and the pieces of ourselves we’re still learning to understand.

The second book, The Scars Nobody Sees, releases October 10. As that day gets closer, I’ll share more about the book and what led me to write it.

If my poetry has ever made you feel seen, thank you for reading it. Knowing the words reached someone means more than I can say.
